Curious about the tarot? Whether as an aid for meditation, a means of self-discovery, or a divination tool, this ancient practice offers incredible insight in our modern world. Learn to tap into your intuition to read the cards for yourself or for others. In this practical workshop, we’ll dive beyond book meanings and get right to the heart of how tarot speaks to you as a unique individual. No lectures here! By the end of this two-hour conversational course you will perform a reading of your very own. Bring a notebook and a deck (if you have one).

This class will cover:

  • Choosing a deck – and what to do with it

  • Hearing (and trusting!) your intuition

  • A simple system for reading the cards

  • Reversals

  • Court Cards

  • Spreads

  • Establishing a tarot practice that works for you

It’s the tail end of the big, bad 1980s in Hollywood, and the party has been raging hard. Aqua Net, Lycra, lace, and liquor flow freely at one of the Sunset Strips last legendary venues, a place where sex machine Stacee Jaxx takes the stage and scantily clad groupies line up to turn their fantasies into reality. Amidst the madness, aspiring rock star (and resident toilet cleaner) Drew longs to take the stage as the next big thing (and longs for small-town girl Sherri, fresh off the bus from Kansas with stars in her eyes). But the rock ‘n’ roll fairy tale is about to end when German developers sweep into town with plans to turn the fabled Strip into just another capitalist strip mall. Can Drew, Sherri and the gang save the strip – and themselves – before it’s too late? Only the music of hit bands Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake and more hold the answer.

Decatur First United Methodist Church

Hosted by Fall for Fall

Covid-19 has caused entire seasons of dance to be cancelled - festivals, performances, and residencies have been cancelled with no future date in sight. Atlanta is a vibrant, artistic city, and there are more artists than there are opportunities.

Spring for Spring Dance Festival is an opportunity for independent choreographers to present socially distanced work outside. The evening will include a live DJ and visual art. It will include a presentation of 10-13 live works by local choreographers and dancers. Designated seats and lanes will keep social distance procedures in place and masks for audience will be required.

Application: Piece must adhere to social distanced guidelines. Piece can be a new creation or pre-existing work.

Dates: June 4-6, 2020

Location: TBD, location might be different per evening

Line-up will be different nightly.

An exhilarating journey of teenage self-discovery, lost innocence and coming-of-age. Winner of 8 Tony Awards, Spring Awakening is a provocative exploration of the journey from adolescence to adulthood told through an electrifying contemporary musical with a pop/rock score. Based on Frank Wedekind's controversial 1891 play of the same name, it follows the interweaving lives of a group of German teenagers as they navigate issues of sexuality, morality, and adulthood. Although set in late-19th century Germany, the angst, emotion, desire and romance still ring true today.

Calling all actors who move, movers who act, dancers who dance, and actors who dance! Wait what? You know what I mean!

As a performer, you must be familiar with a sentence that can cause major anxiety: "Please bring a change of clothes as there will be a dance call." Your blood starts rushing, you break into a sweat...and you haven't even danced yet!
Nail your next audition with this fast-paced, high-energy dance workshop. No jazz squares here--this is high stakes, emotional storytelling through movement. Practice the core techniques you’ll encounter in the audition room, get some tips for standing out (even when you have no idea what you’re doing), and learn an audition-style dance number. Bring your brain and your A-game and get ready to rock your body.

At a large, tastefully-appointed Sneden's Landing townhouse, the Deputy Mayor of New York has just shot himself. Though only a flesh wound, four couples are about to experience a severe attack of Farce. Gathering for their tenth wedding anniversary, the host lies bleeding in the other room, and his wife is nowhere in sight. His lawyer, Ken, and wife, Chris, must get "the story" straight before the other guests arrive. As the confusions and mis-communications mount, the evening spins off into classic farcical hilarity.
